There is no perfect system for leaving your pet behind. Ideally we could easily travel with our pets wherever we go. Simply put, this is not the case.

We have operated at this location since 1973, providing a secure environment, indoors and out for the safekeeping of your dog, for any length of time.

Exercise solves most behavioral issues with dogs and with 12 acres of fenced yards, divided into four separate areas, dogs are exercised in compatible groups and if necessary alone.

Exercise areas are surrounded by a 7ft no climb fence, doubled up with a 4ft small mesh fence.

Inside, each dog or family (those with multiple dogs) have their own separate space for downtime and feeding.

If you are unsure whether we would be a good fit for your pet, we do encourage people to visit us during our open hours to judge for themselves.

In general we only need your dog(s).

Bedding: Blankets and or a bed are fine.  Some dogs do like to sleep in their crate, that is not a problem - bring it if you feel it will make your dog feel more at home.

If on a special diet, you are more than welcome to bring your own food.  We do ask that it is well labeled with feeding instructions written on the container or a piece of paper.

Bones are discouraged as when we let the dogs out they can sometimes leave your dogs space and other dogs will compete for it.  Not good!

Toys if you like, we can't guarantee they will return.

We do not require bowls unless you are providing a special bowl to slow down food intake!

Leashes:  We don't use them.  We may occasionally put a light line on a dog if we feel it might never come back but we don't require your leash.  It will be given  back to you once we have taken your dog outside upon arrival.

  • Upon arriving on the property, follow the driveway - behind the house to the kennel building.
  • Ideally, turn your car around and point out - alongside the kennel building.  This helps get people in and out quickly.
  • If we are outside, or if we have dogs loose inside, it may take us a minute or two to get to you.  There is a bell if you feel we don't know you are there.
  • Please do not open the door yourself.  You might let dogs out.  Not good!
  • We will take your dogs into the kennel and out back into the fields.  Upon taking your dog out, we will come back and give you back your leash if we used it to get your pet in the door.
  • It's quick and we will assume you have said your goodbyes already.
  • The sooner the dogs are in the fields, the sooner they can run around, figure out the space.  While maybe not for the human, it is substantially less stressful for the dog.

Much like arriving, turn your car around and pull up alongside the kennel.  We take payment at the kennel door and retrieve your pet.

If your dog is a runner, let us know.  Most dogs but not all will jump into the car.  We typically will leash them up for you inside and bring them out.

Cancellations happen.  At the same time, our product is time and space.

If you cancel for a date in which we are turning people away, we charge a $50 cancellation fee.

If you cancel for a date in which we are not turning people away, there is no charge.

We do not aggressively collect the cancellation fee.  If it is not paid we typically will either charge a deposit for your next reservation or if we are going to be very busy, reject your request.

We will ask for a deposit on occasion.  The deposit is non refundable.  If you cancel before we are full, we will give you a credit for a future booking.  If you cancel after we are turning people away, there is no refund or credit.

Inside, is air conditioned and heated.

Each dog, or family of dogs has their own separate kennel.  The median size is 8ft x 5ft.  We have some smaller, some larger.

Cleaning of kennels is typically done while the dogs are outside and we employ an industrial pressure washer.

Over time we have evolved to include pens for climbers, escape artists and other difficult dogs.

In addition we have several larger pens that can accommodate  up to four dogs of the same family.

We have also added several smaller kennels that smaller dogs seem to prefer.

We have four separate areas covering roughly 12 acres of land.

The entire area is double fenced, a 7 foot no climb fence, mated with a 4 foot fence with 1x1 mesh that prevents smaller dogs from leaking out.  Also helps to keep other stray critters out as well.

Typically 75% of dogs will go in our largest main area - about 8 acres.  This area also includes a wading pool; exceptionally popular in the warmer months.

The three remaining areas are used for shy, older or aggressive dogs.

We exercise the dogs in compatible groups and if needed alone.

During peak times, we may require a minimum number of nights to secure a reservation.

Long weekends, we will often require at least two nights.  The Christmas holidays and the spring school break will often be five nights minimum.

We do take anti social and/or aggressive dogs.  It is obviously helpful if you tell us this in advance.

Our only requirement is that we are able to get them in and out of the kennel.

Evolution has led us to only take one or two at a time. Our goal remains to get all dogs out at once and once we feel our four separate areas are full (Main area, area for smalls, 2 areas remain for shy or aggressive dogs) we will not book any more.

When we started here 50 years ago, nobody brought their own food.  Now more than half of clients bring their food.

The house food is Eukanuba Adult Small Bites.

If you bring your own food, it must be labeled in a container or in a bag with your dog's name on it and feeding instructions attached to the bag or container.

We take portions out of your supply and attach via buckets to each individual dog's pen.

While our food is kept in a hard container inside the kennel, certain dogs as we let them out are exceptional at entering poorly packaged food in a very short period of time.

Under no circumstances will we accept a bitch that is in heat.  It generates absolute chaos.  Period.

If your bitch is not spayed and you are not yet certain of when she comes into season, we will not accept her for boarding.

We do accept males that have not been neutered.
